Majors in the Secondary Teaching Licensure track study diverse aspects of the language and cultures throughout the Spanish-speaking world, 各种教学方法, 还有语言学, 语音学, 音系学, foreign language teaching methodologies, in addition to the literatures and histories of Spain and Latin America. They also gain experience through teaching in a variety of classroom environments throughout the Grand Junction area.

Expected Student Learning Outcomes for this Major

All CMU baccalaureate graduates are expected to demonstrate proficiency in critical thinking, 沟通流畅, 定量流利, and specialized knowledge/applied learning. In addition to these campus-wide student learning outcomes, graduates of this major will be able to:

  1. Express themselves coherently in written and oral Spanish. (沟通)
  2. 应用 knowledge of the structure of the Spanish language, 包括语法, 语音学和音系学, and morphology in speech and writing. (Specialized Knowledge)
  3. Demonstrate an awareness and appreciation of important literary and artistic movements/works, and cultural aspects in relation to the Spanish-speaking world. (Specialized Knowledge)
  4. Develop a research project focused on second language acquisition or teaching methodologies. (批判性思维)
  5. Instruct K-12 students based on self-written learning plans to address individual learning and developmental patterns for Spanish language acquisition. (Specialized knowledge)
  6. Design a safe and supportive learning environment for elementary and secondary education students. (应用学习)
  7. 应用 Spanish content knowledge while working with learners to access information, apply knowledge in real world settings, assuring learner mastery of the content. (Specialized Knowledge)
  8. 集成评估, 规划, and instructional strategies in coordinated and engaging ways through multiple means of communication. (Critical Thinking/Communication Fluency)
  9. Engage in meaningful and intensive professional learning and self-renewal by regularly examining practice through ongoing study, 自我反省, 和协作. (应用学习)
